Well, one thing that would help would be if you could script up a
reproduction case, that creates FSFS repository, checks out a working
copy, generates >2GB worth of changes, commits, and then runs verify.

This isn't terribly hard, of course, which means it's not terribly
crucial that you (as opposed to someone else) do it. But it would
reduce the "gumption sink" factor for anyone considering debugging
this.

No obligation, of course. Your clear reporting of the issue has
already been a tremendous help. If you do make a repro script, just
attach it to the issue.
