They sound like fine semantics. :) I'm just not sure how to make it
work offline either.

For svn:ignore, it also needs to match the efficiency of the current
clunky situation fairly well, or at the very least we'll get complaints
from gcc developers. (If not for svn:ignore, then for the other new
features.)
