It's easy enough for me to try out an idea like this by applying a patch mailed
to the list. I think a branch in our repository is only needed if the
development is going to get complex and more than one person is going to be
working on it. I think Daniel means "Let me code some of these ideas: it's the
quickest way to try them out," and not that the code should be committed to the
repository before we're happy with the design. That's quite reasonable: it
saves us trying to imagine what it would be like to use the feature. Daniel, I
hope I understood you better here than I did in that other thread.
