Seems if it relies on memory it would be too easy to make a typing error
and land in the wrong repository.
Is there some info already kept in the background by svn that associates
the current WC directory with the root path.
If that is already available the "shortcut" becomes the same for all
situations and indeed would make sense.

I'm spoiled by TortoiseSVN but occasionally revert to the command line
and experience your frustration.
