I think that you've on more than one occasion gravely misunderstood
what functionality I'm requesting.

No.

Yes, it has. I've learned a lot especially from Greg's comments, but
also from everybody else's contributions to the discussion. I'd be
happy to spend some time making a clearer proposal.

If you have some comments on why you're -1 which haven't been
mentioned, I would of course appreciate hearing them.
