SVN revision number

Dear SVN developers:

I am an user of CVS and new comer to SVN. I just have a question about
the revision numbers. Why does SVN use a repository-global revision
numbers? IMO, it's really a big downside of SVN. coz this makes it
really awkward to keep multi-projects in one repository. While when we
access to a new CVS project, we can use the revison numbers to see
which files are more active than others and thus pay more attentions
on these files, is it possible that we do the similar operations with
SVN? Thanks a lot for your reply.

Best,
Huaer
