Why would it require us to restart the soak? According to HACKING, only
destabilizing changes and incompatible API changes require a restart of
the full four-week soak.

(Sorry to come in a bit late here. My main comment on the thread is
that if you're going to justify "svn version" with "svn version URL",
then you need to *actually implement* "svn version URL" first.
Justifying a questionable half-measure with a future improvement is a
recipe for having lots of questionable half-measures in the code base.)
