I suspect that feelings just then were tainted by the recent presence of one
or two people who were advocating rewriting the *whole* of Subversion in
Java and *dropping* the C implementation!!!

Thus unfortunately created a general predisposition to react unfavourably to
any idea containing the word "Java".

Fortunately, that seems to have faded now, and saner personalities have
prevailed.
