If I create a completely new repository, the problem is gone. Somehow, my
existing repository got itself into a state that prevents me putting my
working copies on an NFS mount. I suspect there is a combination of
problems here; something strange about my NFS setup has triggered a bug in
svn. This really seems like a bug to me, but it was rejected with no
explanation when I submitted it to the issue tracker, so I don't really
know what to do at this point..
