Sorry I spoke so bluntly. I realise that you gave Justin exactly what he asked
for. I just don't think he wants what he asked for. :-) The problem of these
Subject lines getting too long has already been voiced on the APR dev list, and
that's with the current directories-only format.

 From reading the APR dev list, I happened to know, which will not be apparent
to many readers of this Subversion list, that Justin is considering using these
addditions to mailer.py on all ASF Subversion projects (APR, etc.). What is
good for them is likely to be good for us too, to a large extent. I wanted to
quickly divert this thread from considering what I consider to be an
inappropriate fix to considering better fixes.
