We can "not get into the discussion" if you prefer, but we're not
going to add guess-fixes for unreproducible bugs. That just makes the
real bug harder to find (because rarer to encounter), while littering
the code with unexplained conditionals, which causes confusion for
those trying to read and/or maintain it. This is a philosophical
difference between us. I cannot prove your way is bad, of course, but
all my experience points me toward the other way.
Now I'm getting into the discussion after all, sorry :-).
Let's try a little harder to figure out how to stimulate this bug.
Maybe we can get one of the users to send in their working copy...?
By the way, what did the line "(Always referring to the 1.1.1 tag!)"
mean in your original mail?
