Yes, that's possible. There are moderators modding the Spanish and Russian
list (two each) in order to keep spammers out. Having moderation (and thus
moderators) is a requirement for Subversion mailing lists.

Who shall I subscribe as moderators for l10n-fr@subversion.tigris.org?

There is one thing: there are currently Spanish and Russian contributions in
the repository. How far along to a first contribution are you?

BTW: Absent any other means, you can mail each other in French on dev@ too.
