However, it sure is nice currently to end up with all of the related
files together in the directory listing when sorted alphabetically.
Finding all of the files involved in the conflict could become rather
difficult when "rxxx." and "ryyy." and "mine." get stuck in *front* of
"filename".
As far as treating .tar.gz as a "single" extension, I do not believe
that's possible on Windows. It takes whatever is after the last dot as
the extension. So perhaps filename.tar.mine.gz isn't as bad as it
looks. [Though I'll admit it doesn't *look* pretty :-)]
