Hi Holger,
After some looking around in 1.1.0-rc2 and 1.0.6, I think I
understanding the problem.
In 1.0.6 the problem does not exist because I have added a -lstdc++ to
the Makefile source (Makefile.am). For every non windows platform!.
In 1.1.0-rc2 there is no -lstdc++. We are having the problem of
unresolved externals in this version.

So I think it would be best to apply your second patch for issue #2031.
Could Justin or someone with full commit rights check this patch and
commit it? And nominate it for the 1.1.x branch?
