Translations & (direct) branch commits

Several translators have been struggling with difficulties maintaining
translations on the 1.1.x branch. Some have asked for guidance and / or
help. I'm writing a somewhat longer mail on the subject, but won't be able
to send today and probably not tomorrow either. This mail is just to say
that I have been reading your comments and I'm processing them.
