Two remarks/errors on installation and first tests on SVN.

Hi,

I recently installed SVN (svn-1.0.6-setup.exe) on my system (laptop with
windows XP Pro) and did some tests on it before deciding whether or not
to start using SVN. Some feedback on the installation:

1) I spend quite some time figuring out that the SVNserve.exe -d command
will not work in a (normal?) setup where repository and the project are
not in the same directory. I've to admit that it is in the manual, but a
quick (and sloppy) reader can easily miss it. To make a long story
short, please make it more explicit in the manual that the way to start
the server is:

svnserve.exe -d -r - /usr/local/repositories

Or make the error-messages that are returned when the server is started
outside the repository clearer. The errors that I got were not very
helpful, something like:

|Unable to open a ra_local session to the URL
|Unable to open repository 'file///SVNrepos/trunk/code

2) Changing a file or solving a conflict marks the icon of the file that
has been processed correctly, but it does not affect the higher
directories.
Restarting windows explorer will mark the higher directories correctly.

The rest of the installation and initial testing went smooth enough.

Gr,
        Wilbert
