I imagine if you run the 1.1 test suite with a 1.1 client against a 1.0
server, you might get failures from bugs which are fixed (and tested
for) in 1.1 but not back-ported to 1.0. And if you run the 1.0 test
suite, you might get failures from behavior changes which necessitated
test suite changes.

Perhaps it's worth testing anyway; just don't expect it to be pretty.
