Okay now that I went and did some reading I understand better...

.pot is a template to build the .po files.
.po files get built into .mo files
.mo files get installed.

So .pot files and how they are generated have nothing to do with the
build. They're a matter of a tool for the convience of the translator.

Which means there's really no need for the RM or a end user to need to
worry about any of this. Which makes me a lot more comfortable.

Gotcha. 0.12 sounds fine to me now.
