There is a very strict ruleset which defines how and when APIs can be
updated. Your client using them makes no difference to the ruleset. Besides: The
ruleset is in place so that you can depend on the presence of this API. The
rules are described in the HACKING document in the section "Release numbering,
compatibility, and deprication".

Maybe what you require is not that basic anymore? :-)
