What I don't like about this approach is that it forces it all to be done
essentially outside of Subversion. There is no way to go back to
Subversion later and ask it to show you all of the revisions that were for
a specific issue ID.

Yes, you can capture and store the information outside of Subversion at
commit time, I would just like to see it also stored inside Subversion.

Suppose you are researching a bug and you annotate a file or just in
general look back through its history. It would be nice when you find a
suspicious revision if you could just see the issue ID for that revision so
that you could then look it up in the Issue Management system.

Ticketing system identifer as part of the log message is exactly what
Jesse Vincent is working on for RT/SVN integration. A post-commit hook
goes to RT passing it the revision number. svnlook pulls the rest of
the needed information from the log for the revision.

Personally, I feel it is working great. That workflow fits in well
with the rest of my workflow.
