Checksum mismatch error during large commit

Hello,

I am evaluating subversion for possible use in our organization. In order to
do so, I am taking some of the milestones from our existing SCM tool (vss)
and checking them in to subversion. I have already checked in a number of
them and added tags so that the repository is at revision 21.

I am running the repository server on a Windows 2000 system. svn on that
system is at version 1.0.0, compiled Feb25, 2004. The Windows 2000 system is
up to date as far as window update is concerned.

I am running the client on a separate Windows XP system. I have two clients
on that system, one is a cygwin client I built myself and the other is
TortoiseCVS. The error seems to occur on both clients. I have not mixed
operations on the clients. In other words I check out, change/add/delete and
then commit all using the same client.

The cygwin client is Version 1.0.1 (r9023)

Do the client and server versions have to match?

Here is the error:

Transmitting file data ..................svn: Commit failed (details
follow):
svn: Base checksum mismatch on '/firmware/trunk/INCLUDE/ipv6/lwip/ip.h':
   expected: b34f52df4026a2652bbdd4a874d69714
     actual: b5effe45f220c9dbbe51f606c1c324aa

Does anyone have any other ideas?
