i actually brought this up in #svn when i discovered it some weeks ago, i
probably should have produced a patch then, but since it was fixed in trunk
as part of a big commit, i abandoned the idea.

In any event, building bindings wouldn't have caught this particular problem,
as it will build cleanly without the fix, but will fail if you actually try
to load the library.
