Both extracted fine on Mac OS X using Finks GNU tar 1.13.25-12 and also
Apples tar:

% /usr/bin/tar --version
tar (GNU tar) 1.13.25

% /sw/bin/tar --version
tar (GNU tar) 1.13.25
