Well, I havent seen any messages about them in quite some time, so I thought I
would bring it up... Now that we are technically in the post 1.0 era (haha)...
Has any progress been made on symbolic link support? The last time I remember
hearing about it, I thought there was still debate about how they would exist in
the database, has any progress been made on this front?
Also, is there support in APR for them? I always figured that would be the
biggest problem...
Anyways, I have made several attempts to get something going with respect to
symlinks, but I always run into problems with the poorly documented APR, or
trying to understand what all the batons are for. I am also not sure where
exactly this type of feature would fit into everything... I figure support is
needed in the WC and FS modules... Is anybody willing to give me a hand
understanding things so that I may be more successful in trying to get somewhere
with links? This is a really important feature for my application, and I am
willing to put my time into developing it, if I think that it might be more than
just a cheap hack in the long run.
Any status information or help would be appriciated. Or even just someone
telling me that it is really hard and wont get a good solution for like 6
months, so I can figure something else out instead of praying that a nice
developer will post a magic patch some day.
