book changes vs other doc changes

This was from an IRC Conversation today, thought maybe it should be
forwarded here:

kfogel> dionisos: I don't think a general policy of "doc changes
don't need votes" is good. If they're so trivial, they
should be easy to review, so what the heck, let's review
           them.

The book is a bit different, in that the authors are a)
striving to keep a consistent authorial voice, and b) doing
large batches of work at a sitting, making the diffs
           sometimes non-trivial.

That's why I think it's okay to treat book differently from
           other docs.

fitz> kfogel: AFAIK, if the book compiles, the plan is to merge
the whole damned thing into the 1.0 branch

kfogel> Also, they know they're getting published as treeware, so
they're being careful to vet the master copy.

fitz> yes

dionisos> ok. either way is fine by me.

fitz> what he said [* fitz points at kfogel]
