I think that the pdbs are much more compressible than the executables, so I
don't know if they are 50% of the installer size, or less... But I'm quite
sure that they're not 80% of the installer size (just 80% or more of the
diskspace required).

Right, yes, but if it reduces the size of the installer by 50% for 90%
of the users I'd drop the pdb files. They eat up 88% of the installed
Diskspace.
Jostein could even make an addidtional installer for the exe files
debugging symbols if that is really necessary.
I also wonder, why the zip file containing the pdbs is so large.
Probably it contains the pdbs for everything, not just the exes.
