Patrick, Jostein,

I must say I have to agree with Ben Reeser. We probably do want to
distribute code which compiles. Adding new fixes and doing major feature overhauls is
a problem. I concur with his reasoning that the branch-lives-for-a-week
strategy is probably to fix problems like the java patch. Not the Perl stuff
(although I too would like to have it available.)

So:

+1 on java patch
-1 on Perl patch

You will have to wait for more votes to come in though.
