Reading through the passage, it says that file-locking is buggy on networks.

But the contention in BDB is mmaping networked files. Not locking.

Or did I just misunderstand the whole BDB issue? I was sure someone said it
was because we were trying to mmap a networked file.

I'm not going to try to plug this in as it stands though. There's been enough
feedback to indicate it's not a good thing <tm> right now.

I'll check the archives as well and see what other options have been
discussed, but I think for the moment, a different back end is something
that's best tabled.
