new efficient distributed DIFF algorithm?

Has anyone thought of using this type of distributed DIFF algorithm instead
of sending the files both to the same client/server end for processing?

The algorithm here is called "rsync".

Can't wait for the beta to end. Then we will be allowed to start using
subversion in our corporation.
