FWIW, I haven't been able to reproduce the db lockup problem while checking
out from another repository with 3 clients at the same time. I tried it
on a small repos and on my mozilla repos I used for earlier testing.
No dice.

I'll give the subversion dataset a go to see if that makes a difference.
