Speaking only for one such system (ClearCase web or snapshot views),
the net net is, if you make such a copy, you may get
ClearCase-unusable files, you may get partly-ClearCase usable files,
you may get something that works... or works until you need it most.
It's not a precedent we necessarily want to follow slavishly, that's
for sure.
