Try making the release, or just the book documentation? I'm hoping
the former -- that would be huge. The branch is already done, the
CHANGES file is done. I was at step 4 in releases.txt:

   $ svn co http://svn.collab.net/repos/svn/branches/release-0.27.0 rel-0.27
   $ cd rel-0.27
   $ ./dist.sh 0.27.0 6715

...when I got stopped by an unbelievable libtool compatibility problem
that is so intricate, and yet stupid, that I don't want to go into it,
except to say that building the release appears to be cursed for me
today. And that the libtool-1.4.3 and 1.5 sources have been removed
from the GNU site and its mirrors for "authentication" (whatever that
means -- I'm just echoing what they said in the placeholder READMEs
they left behind).

If you could finish off the release, I'd be eternally(*) grateful.
