I second this (because I made the same suggestion in another post ;-)

The <real-URI> could be:

http://x.y.com/some/path/some/file for using HTTP/WebDAV
svn://x.y.com/some/path/some/file for using the svn protocol
file:///some/path/some/file for using direct file access

And if there ever where another RA protocol we can add this, too.
