I hear you. I *am* paid to work on this software, and I can assure
you that I read only a quarter of the mails on this list. There are
those who feel they must read every mail to stay on top of things -- I
am most definitely not one of 'em.

Yeah, the bootstrap thing is a grand idea. (Go, Fitz!) Sorry to
admit that I'll immediately bail out of that list (for much the same
reasons that I typically avoid the #svn IRC channel and no longer read
personal email at work). Of course, I never mind getting brought into
a conversation where my particular set of knowledge is useful and
requested -- I love being known as a sort of repository
mortician/healer, for example -- but even on my most egotistical days
I can't imagine this happening "often". :-)
