There's no difference. Subversion uses the Apache Portable Runtime
(APR) library, which is the same portability library used by Apache
httpd. So Subversion compiles and runs anywhere apache does.

But because Subversion itself only ships with a commandline client,
I'd imagine Unix is a friendlier environment for playing with such a
thing.
