Error setting locale

Hello all,

I've installed the subversion 0.23 binary rpm's for my distribution
(SuSE 8.1; downloaded from the location pointeted to from the svn
homepage). When I now type a simple 'svn' I get the following error:

preston:/home/tkadmin # svn
svn: error: cannot set the locale

Any hints what may cause this or how to dig into this further? Any help
is appreciated.
