For the record, this is wrong. It is true though that new semantics of diff is farther from that of Perforce AFAICT. I've just
checked (and the same pattern applies to "p4 submit"), and "p4 diff" will give all differences in entire WC, "p4 diff ..." will
give differences in current WC directory and subdirs, and "p4 diff FILE1 FILE2" will give changes in those files compared to how
they were before "p4 edit" was called on them. Moreover, I use commands like "p4 submit subv*/..." all the time for cases where
I want to commit changes in both "subversion" and "subversion-client" directories where I maintain respective packages.
