is data in db architecture specific?

Hello!

I'm good if i suppose that I can't use the repository which created on
an i386 on a ppc without dump/load? We want to use subversion over
afs, and we have mixed workstations...

If I probe Berkeley DB error occurs. If I only use the repository on
the same architecture as it is created on everything works, but not if
I try to use on the another arhitecture.
