I tried them both, and neither worked for me. If it matters: This was
English XP SP1, with German MUI.

When I have time, I'll try to setup a custom DAV server (prolly python
davserver), and see if XP can mount it. Then I'll try to modify its
code so that it gives the same response that Subversion gives; perhaps
that will reveal the cause of the problem...
