It would be nice if the default (non power user) backend could be hidden
though. If the operation does not map to a certain backend it can cause
a friendly error message to be printed.

Please don't be sorry. The documentation is *absolutely outstanding*.
Unfortunately that does not help a lot unless people read it. They have
themselves to blame of course, but it also wastes time and space on the
mailing lists.
