But neve mind. Improving WC handing is also an important performance
fix, don't you think?

Don't misunderstand -- I'm not arguing *for* mucking with the WC library
in this way right now; all I'm saying is that "feature freeze" is a very
weak argument, given what has already gone in since then. Lots of
user-visible changes (like "svn ls" and "svn cat", if I'm not mistaken).
