Matter? It doesn't, ultimately, but this is behavior that used to
exist and was broken when I a) reworked the way commits happen, and b)
reworked the way log messages work. So, Justin is just scratching an
ooooold itch.

FWIW, +1 on it (if it works -- I've not tested).
