I did! This is probably related to the top_builddir munging bug in some
versions of autoconf. My autoconf doesn't trigger it. Sorry, but I did test
it. (I hate it when people say I don't test things...)

Some versions of autoconf specify . as top_builddir while others do the full
path to top_builddir. (It's a frustrating bug introduced in recent autoconf
2.5x's.)

Yes, I should have remembered that it needed this extra step to work around
autoconf's stupidity. Sorry. Thanks for putting in a stopgap. -- justin
