Hello Ben,

Thank you for the hint. 'locale' is on a TB of news groups and web
pages, but as far as I can tell no answers to my search... your hint
made me 'man setlocale' and from there I figured to set LANG=en_US and
it works! I guess having a LANG set is a requirement to get it to work
on OS X 10.2.

Aside: it does not affect the Evo mesg.
