Word's format is pretty confusing, but in general, the text of the
document is mostly kept together in one chunk. (The rest of the
document is chock *full* of pointers and offsets and voodoo. The more
complex the document, the more voodoo.)

So, you'll get some compression of Word documents as new revisions are
made to the files. And compared to CVS... well, at least in
Subversion you get some compression. :-)
