Password prompt for everyrepository co

Greetings folks,

I hope this question has not been asked before if so apologies in advance and
please just point me to the mail with hopefully some answers.

Here is the problem:-

o I have a script that has to request checkout for a number of repositorieS.
o the script basically calls "svn chechout" many many time.
o now each time the user is prompted for a password to enable the ssh
connection to happen.
o the trouble for me is that the same password is asked say 10 times
o I thought asking for the password and storing it for the duration of the
request using the options --username --password but I was told these options
only works when the Subversion Filesystem is accessed via Dav.

Has anybody come accross the same issue and how was it solve ?
is --username --password also available for secured shell access to the
repository ?
