Perhaps I am wrong, that comment stems from when I first tried to use
pool debugging, well over a year ago. At that stage I had all sorts
of problems until I rebuilt everything. I just assumed that there was
some binary incompatiblity and didn't investigate further. I haven't
ever knowingly used a mixture of debug enabled and normal code since
then.

I'll give it a go sometime and see what happens :)
