comments in option specifications in config file

Hi,

I just set up ~/.subversion/config file to contain the following:

[helpers]
editor-cmd = gnuclient #editor (vi, emacs, notepad, etc.)

which causes commits to fail rather badly (the # comments out the name
of the file containing the commit message).

I imagine that putting comments in option values is not allowed, but I
can't find anywhere that says that :-) Does it need to be explicitly
stated somewhere (or disallowed by the code)?

Robert

PS I'm using svn rev 4856

PPS I also can't find any documentation on continuation lines in the
config file. It's easy enough to figure out from the code, but
perhaps it should be documented.
