 but the reasons are very simple:
 - if it is hidden in unix, it should be hidden on windows.
 - end-users don't care about it, and should not touch it.
 - if you wnat to see them use the explorer properties and
   you see them

There is not much sense in listing your points if you cannot tell that
they were not covered in the original discussion already, is there?
