Wow! That's a surprise, thanks for testing. I never imagined it
would do that -- and (testing...) I see it does that for checkouts as
well.

 So it makes Subversion unlike CVS. Though I cannot
 argue on the Subversion code. But maybe it should be added to the
 IssueZilla, to be handled at a later time.

Yup, please file it. Post-1.0, but a legitimate compatibility issue
(I don't know if APR currently offers us a way to solve it portably,
though).
